Everyday of the trip we were moving for sun up to sun down. There is a famous trail called the Heartland Trail right behind their house. We went on countless bike rides, walks and jogs. With the lake just a few yards away, we also went swimming and fishing. And of course it wouldn't be a vacation if we didn't do any shopping. I would say I made my dent, and that is all I am going to say. It was truly a wonderful, relaxing, and fun trip. So many moments of laughter and lightheartedness-even through the four days of driving to and from.
Atti and I when we first got there! We went to Akeley to see Grandma's neighbor, Bill play his guitar in a little band for the Paul Bunyan Festival.

He is in the right hand corner. (You can barely see him)

This is where we began and ended every day.

Our first full day we went to Itasca State Park, where is the location of the headwaters of the Mississippi River
This is where Atti and I walked across the headwaters
Our Fishing Day!
Forgot to mention that we spend EIGHT hours on this boat and Cada was the only one who caught a fish. I got so sleepy just hoping and praying one fish would bite I fell asleep, but when I woke up everyone else was sleeping too! You could say we are not really fishermen.
That morning we went it was overcast and pretty chilly, but by the afternoon it was sunny and time for a swim!
You can barely see us, but we are sitting in Paul Bunyan's hand. (This is in Akeley)
Atti and I in front of the largest Tiger Muskee ever. Paul, Attiucus' dad has a picture of him and his sibblings in front of the fish too. How crazy!
Did I mention that we ate SUCH good food on this trip? I guess that is what vacations are for, but we ate so much. This was the best vanilla malt I have ever tasted in my whole life. Every town, and I mean tiny, itty bitty town has at LEAST two ice cream shops. I am pretty sure I had ice cream everyday...maybe even more than just once a day.
